This clause contains the performance requirements for the Sidelink physical channels specified for ProSe Direct Discovery.

11.1 General

11.1.1 Applicability of requirements

The requirements in this clause are applicable to UEs that support ProSe Direct Discovery. Some of the tests defined in this clause are applicable only to UEs that additionally support transmission and reception of Sidelink synchronization signal (indicated using disc-SLSS). The test case applicability is in according to table 11.1.1-1 depending on UE capability.

11.2 Demodulation of PSDCH (single link performance)

The purpose of the requirements in this subclause is to verify the PSDCH demodulation performance with a single active PSDCH link under different operating scenarios and channel conditions.

The active cell(s), when present, are specified in the test parameters specific to the test.

11.2.1 FDD PSDCH Single Link Performance (ProSe Direct Discovery)

Editor’s note: This test case is not complete. Following aspects are either missing or not yet determined:

– ProSe UE authentication is not handled in the test case and is still under investigation.

– Test time is FFS.

– Test system uncertainties and test tolerances is TBD

– Connection Diagram is FFS

– UL and DL RMC for cell1 is TBD

11.2.1.1 Test Purpose

This test verifies the PSDCH demodulation performance with a single PSDCH link with a given SNR for which the average BLER remains below a given reference value under different channel conditions.

11.2.1.2 Test Applicability

This test case applies to all types of E-UTRA FDD UE release 12 and forward which support ProSe Direct Discovery.

11.2.1.3 Minimum Conformance Requirements

The minimum requirements are specified in Table 11.2.1.3-2 with the test parameters specified in Table 11.2.1.3-1. The receiver UE under test is associated with Cell 1.

11.2.1.4 Test Description

11.2.1.4.1 Initial Conditions

Initial conditions are a set of test configurations the UE needs to be tested in and the steps for the SS to take with the UE to reach the correct measurement state

Configurations of PDSCH and PDCCH before measurement are specified in Annex C.2.

Test Environment: Normal, as defined in TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.1.

Frequencies to be tested: Mid Range for Cell1, as defined in TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.3.1.1.

Channel Bandwidths to be tested: As specified per test number in Table 11.2.1.3-2 as defined in TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.3.1.1

1. Connect the SS, the faders and AWGN noise source to the UE antenna connectors as shown in TS 36.508 [7] Annex A, Figure TBD.

2. The parameter settings for the cell are set up according to Table 11.2.1.3-1.

3. Downlink signals are initially set up according to Annex C.0, C.1 and C.3.2, and uplink signals according to Annex H.1 and H.3.2.

4. Propagation conditions are set according to Annex B.0.

5. Ensure the UE is in State 2A-RF according to TS 36.508 [7] clause 5.2A.1A. Message contents exceptions are defined in clause 11.2.1.4.3.

6. SS continues with the generic procedures described in TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.5.3A.3 and 4.5.4.3 and ensures the UE is in State 4 according to TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.5.4 and the UE test loop Mode D is activated.

11.2.1.4.2 Test Procedure

1. SS transmits PDSCH via PDCCH DCI format 1A for C_RNTI to transmit the DL RMC according to Table TBD. The SS sends downlink MAC padding bits on the DL RMC.

2. SS sends uplink scheduling information via PDCCH DCI format 0 for C_RNTI to schedule the UL RMC according to Table TBD. When the UE has no payload data to send, it transmits uplink MAC padding bits on the UL RMC.

3. Set the parameters of bandwidth, propagation condition, antenna configuration and the SNR for cell1 according to Table 11.2.1.3-1.

4. SS transmits PSDCH to transmit the SL RMC according to Table 11.2.1.3-2. Set the Sidelink signal level, bandwidth, propagation condition, antenna configuration and SNR according to Table 11.2.1.3-1 and Table 11.2.1.3-2.

5. SS shall transmit an RRCConnectionReconfiguration message to configure DRX. Message contents exceptions are defined in clause 11.2.1.4.3.

6. The UE shall transmit RRCConnectionReconfigurationComplete message.

7. Initialise the variables Ptot and Pok as 0.

8. SS shall send SL Discovery Packets (MAC padding bits) on the SL RMC for the test time [FFS]. SS stores the number of the transmitted Discovery Packets in the current test iteration in the variable Ptot.

9. SS shall send (on the available PDSCH) a “UE TEST LOOP PROSE MODE D SIDELINK DIRECT DISCOVERY PACKET COUNTER REQUEST” message and wait for the UE to respond (on the available PUSCH) with a “UE TEST LOOP PROSE MODE D SIDELINK DIRECT DISCOVERY PACKET COUNTER RESPONSE” reporting the received Sidelink direct discovery packet counter value.

10. SS calculates the variable Pok as (current counter value – counter value at last test iteration).

11. SS shall compute the BLER as following:

BLER = ((Ptot – Pok )/ Ptot )* 100%

11.4 Multiple timing reference test

11.4.1.1 Test Purpose

This test verifies the demodulation performance when receiving from two Sidelink UEs that follow different timing references and transmitting on different resources (non-overlapping in time) with a given SNR for which the average BLER remains below a given reference value.

This test case applies to all types of E-UTRA FDD UE release 12 and forward which support ProSe Direct Discovery.

11.4.1.3 Minimum Conformance Requirements

The test parameters are specified in Table 11.4.1-1. Sidelink UE 2 and the receiver UE under test are associated with Cell 1. Sidelink UE 1 and 3 are associated with another cell and use a different timing, and UE 1 acts as a synchronization reference. The minimum requirements are specified in Table 11.4.1-2.

Frequencies to be tested: Mid Range for Cell1, as defined in TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.3.1.1.

Channel Bandwidths to be tested: As specified per test number in Table 11.4.1.3-2 as defined in TS 36.508 [7] clause 4.3.1.1

1. Connect the SS, the faders and AWGN noise source to the UE antenna connectors as shown in TS 36.508 [7] Annex A, Figure TBD.

2. The parameter settings for the cell are set up according to Table 11.4.1.3-1.

3. Downlink signals are initially set up according to Annex C.0, C.1 and C.3.2, and uplink signals according to Annex H.1 and H.3.2.

4. Propagation conditions are set according to Annex B.0.

5. Ensure the UE is in State 2A-RF according to TS 36.508 [7] clause 5.2A.1A. Message contents exceptions are defined in clause 11.4.1.4.3.

11.5 Maximum Sidelink processes test

11.5.1.4.2 Test Procedure

1. SS transmits PDSCH via PDCCH DCI format 1A for C_RNTI to transmit the DL RMC according to Table TBD. The SS sends downlink MAC padding bits on the DL RMC.

2. SS sends uplink scheduling information via PDCCH DCI format 0 for C_RNTI to schedule the UL RMC according to Table TBD. When the UE has no payload data to send, it transmits uplink MAC padding bits on the UL RMC.

3. Set the parameters of bandwidth, propagation condition, antenna configuration and the SNR for cell1 according to Table 11.5.1.3-1.

4. SS transmits PSDCH on each active Sidelink UE as per with SL RMC according to Table 11.5.1.3-1. Set the Sidelink signal level, configured resource pools, bandwidth, antenna configuration according to Table 11.5.1.3-1 and Table 11.5.1.3-2.

5. SS shall transmit an RRCConnectionReconfiguration message to configure DRX. Message contents exceptions are defined in clause 11.5.1.4.3.

6. The UE shall transmit RRCConnectionReconfigurationComplete message.

7. Initialise the variables Ptot and Pok as 0.

8. SS shall send SL Discovery Packets (MAC padding bits) on the SL RMC for each of the active sidelink for the test time [FFS]. SS stores the number of the transmitted Discovery Packets per sidelink UE in the current test iteration in the variable Ptot.

9. SS shall send (on the available PDSCH) a “UE TEST LOOP PROSE MODE D SIDELINK DIRECT DISCOVERY PACKET COUNTER REQUEST” message and wait for the UE to respond (on the available PUSCH) with a “UE TEST LOOP PROSE MODE D SIDELINK DIRECT DISCOVERY PACKET COUNTER RESPONSE” reporting the received Sidelink direct discovery packet counter value.

10. SS calculates the variable Pok as (current counter value – counter value at last test iteration).

11. SS shall compute the fraction of maximum throughput as 100%*(Pok / Ptot ).

12. Repeat steps 1 to 11 for each subtest as applicable.
