9 Control of processing overload

In addition to the control of processing overload requirements in TS 181 005 [2] clause 10, an NGN shall have mechanisms available to control overload at the interconnect between that NGN and an NGCN. Where NGCN sites from multiple enterprises are served by the same processing resource an NGN shall ensure that overload affects traffic from and to NGCN sites of multiple enterprises, and other traffic, fairly.

An NGN shall be able to provide to an NGCN site processing overload control information, the NGCN site shall use this to regulate the load presented to the NGN. How an NGCN site regulates the load presented to an NGN is outside the scope of the present document.
