The relationship between the E-OTD reporting period , the BTS frequency source’s rms time interval error (RMS of Time Interval Error, see ITU-T Recommendation G.810), and the maximum admissible range error is given by (see 3GPP TS 45.050, annex V.7):

In practice, the BTS frequency source stability and required E-OTD range accuracy are likely to be given and table C.3.1 allows the corresponding value of the E-OTD reporting period to be read off.
