3.1 Definitions

For the purposes of the present document, the terms and definitions given in 3GPP TR 21.905 [1] and the following apply. A term defined in the present document takes precedence over the definition of the same term, if any, in 3GPP TR 21.905 [1].

UE in receive only mode: device capable only of receiving eMBMS broadcast on a pre-determined range of TMGIs and not capable of establishing unicast connectivity with the network. This mode operation does not require UICC or USIM.

UE in receive only mode with independent unicast: device capable of operating both as UE in receive only mode for eMBMS broadcast and as a normal UE for unicast connectivity with the network. This mode of operation requires USIM.

For the purposes of the present document, the following terms and definitions given in TS 23.246 [2] apply:

For the purposes of the present document, the abbreviations given in 3GPP TR 21.905 [1] and the following apply. An abbreviation defined in the present document takes precedence over the definition of the same abbreviation, if any, in 3GPP TR 21.905 [1].
